Expertise and Practice
Dr. Daniel Elias Serbu heads our Frankfurt office. He is responsible for inheritance law, estate planning, business succession, inheritance tax and gift tax. His expertise ranges from structuring of inheritance cases through wills, inheritance contracts and gifts to the settlement of inheritance cases and legal representation in inheritance disputes both in and out of court.
In addition, Daniel has expertise in the areas of asset protection, foundations and optimization of inheritance tax and gift tax. He also advises in Russian and English. For this reason, he is very familiar with the particularities of international and cross-border estate planning and settlement.
Additional Background
Daniel read law in Marburg, Bonn and Moscow. He completed his legal clerkship in Düsseldorf, Germany, where he worked for the German Consulate General in Saint Petersburg (Russian Federation) and Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer in Cologne in the corporate department (Russian Desk). After completing his legal clerkship and admission to the bar in 2012, he worked full-time as research fellow at the EBS University in Wiesbaden Law School. At the same time, he received his doctorate in comparative law on mediation legislation in Germany, England and France.
After completing his doctorate, he obtained the titel of "Mediator".
Subsequently, he joined a mid-sized law firm with three notaries in Wiesbaden, in particular in general civil and procedural law as well as in various notarial advisory tasks.
Most recently, Daniel worked for a major German law firm in Frankfurt am Main, where he advised private clients in the area of asset and corporate succession. He moved to ROSE & PARTNER Frankfurt am Main and took over the management of our office in Frankfurt am Main in October 2019.
