Additional Background

Bernfried is from Westphalia, where his family operates an agricultural and forestry real estate business, now in its fourth generation. After completing secondary school and training as a banker in Düsseldorf, he studied economics at the Open University of Hagen and law at the Universities of Gießen and Cologne.

Following his first state law examination, he obtained a master’s degree in international law at the University of Cape Town and worked as a travel journalist.

His legal clerkship led him, among other places, to the Postgraduate School of Administrative Sciences in Speyer and the German embassy in Katmandu, Nepal.

After his second state law examination, he was admitted to practice law in Germany and, after a short time as a private attorney, made his dream of starting his own law firm a reality by founding the law firm of ROSE & PARTNERS with some of his colleagues.
